Since 1900, the relief gold designs have often been a precious frame for all of those rich decorations.
After 1920, the relief gold designs went out of fashion and was forgotten for decades, because of the troubles in history and the retirement of specialists who knew the techniques. It was only to be seen on old photos and on original remaining porcelain pieces that were occasionally found in the porcelain manufactory. For several years, the interest in this decoration has been growing again. It came home to the workers in the manufactory but nobody could answer the question of techniques,
One of the master painters who is trained in painting flowers, ornaments and Chinese style neverstopped thinking of the lost recipes. For some months, he has been studyinf old instructions, mixtures and descriptions. He tried some combinations, compared his knowledge from enamel painting and worked successfully. He finally found th faults why the golden ground broke off as well as the right firing temperatures to fire the weak and metallic shining golden parts at the same time.
After that, it was only a question of industry and well considered co-operation with other specialists and experts. This way, they decorated different shapes with more than forty ornamental designs.
Delicate gold designs a painted in a high relief. They frame portraits of beautiful ladies or historic personalities either as weak ornamental lines or as wide brilliant parts according to traditional designs. In the same way, you will find landscapes like parks and pictures inspired by the mythology on the porcelain pieces.
Beside a strong copper-colored shining background, there are further accents with new developed backgrounds in pastel colors like chamois or ivory.
Today, collectors*) can chose a variety of new designs painted on traditional models which will come up to the highest aesthetic expectations.
In the 130 th year of the dresden porcelain manufactory, the perfection of decoration with the masterly hand of the porcelain painter also allows an individual design according to customers' wishes.
